The second point has undoubted advantages. First, if an applicant is rejected by the OSP, he/she can still take the regular entrance exam. It is also possible to take the exam on the day before the entrance exam, thus allowing one extra exam to be taken that year. Second, the OSP is not for learning knowledge or reaching a set score threshold. Familiarity with the elementary school curriculum is sufficient to pass the test. Before the test, I personally recommend that you review mainly the basics of mathematics. If you do not want to get unnecessary scores, you need to know how to calculate the circumference of a circle and how to use percentages. It may be worth mentioning that the test itself is divided into two parts: language and mathematics. But the main point of the above is that these tests will give you a fairly accurate indication of where you really stand compared to other college applicants. Because it is really only a question of being better than others, and the results you get after the test only show how many of the other participants you outperformed and how many outperformed you.
Having participated in this exam myself a few years ago, let me explain how it works. Typically, the exam takes place in a school classroom on a set day. Before the actual exam begins, the students sit at desks, preferably one at a time, otherwise in pairs, and a person in charge of the conference gives a careful explanation of the exam. In summary, the test is paid for, but it can be taken as many times as needed, and only the best results count. It also has the advantage of being the only admissions criterion accepted by many universities, so if you pocket the results, you can pass anywhere (if you are really good).
