Cleaning Blinds
Some people say that vertical and horizontal types have different cleaning methods, but that is nonsense. It always depends on the surface. Or it depends on what is inside. In fact, blinds may be covered with fabric, but the contents are usually aluminum.
Maintenance of mechanical blinds is not discussed here. They can always be cleaned with just a drop of lubricant. Rather, we will talk about surface maintenance.
If you have a feather duster (see picture) at home, carefully grab it with your right hand and gently take it to the trash. Throw it away and never come back. This cleaning litter will pick up some dust, but it will also stir up a lot of dust. If someone says that this duster is charged with ions that attract microscopic dust, get rid of it. That is a divine fabrication.
Better get what is called a louver brush. This is, in effect, five foam sponges lined up on one handle. It is designed for classic narrow blinds. If they are metal, soak the comb in your favorite detergent and clean it. Quick and easy. You can do the same with a regular sponge. Of course, many times.
If you have vertical blinds, and perhaps fabric blinds, don\’t be afraid to vacuum. If you don\’t have a special attachment on hand, smash up your vacuum cleaner and have a cup of coffee. Then go buy some and you\’re done.
You can use detergent on vertical blinds, but you need to find out about it first. Otherwise, you may end up with stains there like a jaguar on fur.
By the way, every manufacturer should have something about maintenance on their products. It should say what can be used and what should be avoided. If it doesn\’t, you will have to search the Internet or experiment. One last piece of advice. If the blinds already look pretty dirty, have a specialist do an ultrasound. No, the specialist will not come and do it in seconds. They will come, but they will dismantle it and take it away. Then, the blinds will be washed in water with ultrasonic bubbles and the blinds will be good as new. Check the price first.
